IMPORTANT NOTICE - REIMPLEMENTED MANDATORY CURFEW AND LIMITATIONS ON GATHERING:
November 18, 2020 - Effective October 15, 2020 at 12:00 a.m. Midnight, pursuant to Tribal Council Resolution T2020-0119, to preserve the public health and safety of the member residents of the Lac Vieux Desert Reservation and to mitigate the risk of infection and subsequent transfer of illness, any individual on the Reservation shall not loiter, idle or congregate in or on any public street, highway, alley, park or any other public space between the hours of 10:00 p.m. midnight and 6 a.m. Curfew requirements shall be in effect until 6:00 a.m., Thursday, December 3, 2020 unless extended by the Tribal Council. Individuals may continue the following activities after curfew:
• Travel to or from employment or to perform the tasks of employment if those tasks necessarily put them in the public space.
• Perform necessary government activities.
• Perform tasks that are necessary to their immediate health and safety, or to the health and safety of their family or household members (including pets).
• Provide emergency care for minors, dependents, the elderly, persons with disabilities, or other vulnerable persons.
In addition, all social gatherings or events among persons not part of the same household must be limited to 10 or less individuals and be held in such a way that individuals are able to maintain at least 6 feet between members of different households.
There is no restriction on gatherings of 10 or more persons who reside in the same household.
Failure to abide by the directives of Tribal Council Resolution T2020-119, may be subject to criminal penalties under the Lac Vieux Desert Criminal Code, Section 2-51-5.
TRIBAL GOVERNMENT OFFICE SAFETY PROTOCOLS:
October 7, 2020 - Per directive of the Tribal Council, for the safety of Tribal Members and employees, due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19 cases within and immediately outside of the Lac Vieux Desert Community, all Tribal Government offices will be locked and services will be available by appointment only. Office hours and business operations will continue as normal, please call ahead to schedule an appointment.
